Alpine Kayak Club's mission is to provide a safe space where local Eagle County teens/adults can cultivate lifelong whitewater kayaking skills and connect with peers and coaches on local rivers in Eagle County.
Club members are given a 5 punch pass membership where they may use their punches whenever it is convenient with their schedule throughout the summer. There are 10 sessions available throughout the summer so if you are away for part of the Summer have no fear there is opportunity for you to paddle when you get home.
Paddle sessions occur on Thursday evenings. An email goes out the Monday prior to inform club members which stretch of river we will be paddling along with a meet up location. We will collect a head count for the session through this email thread. Drop off and Pick up is always available at Battle Mountain High School regardless of our paddle location. Drop off at BMHS must happen no later than 3:45pm. Pick Up is always as close to 8:00pm as possible. River time can sometimes delay us on pick up.
The difficulty of the river stretch for each session is detailed to the skill of the group confirmed for that week as well as the current river levels. The maximum difficulty Alpine Kayak Club will train on is class 3+ rapids.
An additional rental fee for the season allows access to all of our kayaks and equipment throughout the season during the session dates. The only equipment not included in the rental fee that is still required for colder weather/water sessions is a dry top.
Club sessions occur from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm on Thursdays starting on June 12th through September 4th. If you choose to drop off your participant at Battle Mountain they must be there no later than 3:45pm so that the club can be driving to the river at 4:00pm. There will be no session offered on June 19th, July 17th, or August 21st. Starting August 7th, sessions are 4:30pm-8:30pm with our last session on September 4th. This change in schedule is due to our owner going back to work as a school teacher and his availability to go out with the club is pushed back due to his teaching schedule. A club cook out will be hosted on Thursday, September 11th to reflect on the Summer of paddling.
