The mission of the overnight camp is to introduce overnight river camping to our adventure-seeking students. This camp is an excellent introduction to the fundamentals and excitement of whitewater kayaking, as well as an introduction to the beauty/fun camping next to the river, can provide. During this program, students learn the fundamentals of whitewater kayaking and how to effectively work together as a team to safely navigate the river, camp, cook, and live by the shores of the Colorado River. The first day of the camp are spent camping and kayaking around Rancho Del Rio. During the first day, students run day stretches of river and coaches introduce the skills needed for an overnight experience on the river during the second half of camp. On the morning of the second day of camp, we will embark on a two-night three-day journey down the Colorado River. During this time, students will enjoy beautiful scenery, fun whitewater, comradere with campers, and a unique experience that will build self-confidence in the sport of river running.
Recommended Age: 13 to 17 years old. A 12-year-old student who has completed our level 2 camp may be considered.
Required Experience: Our Level 1 camp or some comparable experience. A first-timer can be accepted for this camp, with the understanding that this is a more committing experience than our Level 2 camp. As with all of our programs competency in swimming is a must. All campers are issued a whitewater life jacket that is worn at all times on the water.
Cost: $1,025 if booked before March 1st
$1,100 if booked after March 1st
