The mission of the Level 2 group lesson is to connect fellow aspiring paddlers and build upon the skills that were taught in the Level 1 group lesson. In this lesson, we spend the whole day on the river. We review how to “wet exit” (exit your kayak in the event of a flip) at the start of this lesson. We begin on the shores of a class 2+ stretch of the river reviewing safety protocol before heading out on a day of paddling. We also introduce how to use throw ropes (a safety tool essential to every kayaker). Once we have completed the safety portion of the lesson we will begin our journey downriver. On the river, we review how to catch eddies, ferry across the river, run rapids in a safety formation, and more. This lesson is all about introducing how to effectively run the river in a group setting and introducing others who are trying to break through in to the sport!
Minimum Age: 13 years old.
Experience Required: Our Level 1 group lesson or another comparable experience. All participants need to be moderately proficient at swimming. That being said, a life jacket is provided to each participant and is worn throughout the lesson.

Dates: July 6, 27; and August 10

The meet-up for this lesson is circumstantial to river flows. A meeting location will be determined in an email a week leading up to the lesson. All meeting locations are within a 30-minute drive from Edwards, CO.
Transportation to and from the river: Transportation is a collaborative process for our group lessons. Learning shuttle logistics is essential when learning how to kayak. Alpine Kayak will provide a vehicle that can transport all equipment and kayaks, however, participants in the lesson will need to help run the shuttle with their vehicle.
