The mission of private lessons is to customize an experience that will allow the participant(s) to grow in their goals with the sport of whitewater kayaking. If you are looking for one-on-one instruction or an intimate group setting with just your friends/family then this is the lesson you are looking for. We will work with you whether you are trying to get out on the river for the first time or you want to improve a specialized skill in your kayak this is where you want to look.
Minimum Age: 11 years old.
Experience Required: All participants need to be moderately proficient at swimming. That said, a life jacket is provided to each participant and worn throughout the lesson. Private lessons work best when all persons in the lesson are at a similar ability and share similar goals for kayaking.
Length of lesson: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Transportation to and from the river: For our private lessons, transportation is handled by Alpine Kayak. Alpine Kayak will provide the vehicle(s) that can transport all equipment and kayaks and handle the shuttle from put-in to take-out. PIck up is at: Battle Mountain High School, Edwards CO
The mission of the sit-on-top river tour is to allow all individuals to access the beauty of the River in a watercraft that has a lower learning curve than the standard whitewater kayak. On this trip, participants are given sit-on-top kayaks or duckies (inflatable kayaks) that do not require skills such as the “wet exit” in the event of a flip. These trips have whitewater, but the focus is more on giving a scenic experience that allows participants a chance to see some of the beauty the river can hold.
Dates offered: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays all Summer long!
Length of Lesson: 10:30AM - 2:30PM
Minimum Age: 11 years of age is the minimum we will take for this lesson.
Experience Required: All participants need to be moderately proficient at swimming. That said, a life jacket is provided to each participant and worn throughout the lesson.
Participants will meet at Rancho Del Rio or State Bridge at 10:30 AM
Transportation to and from the river: For sit-on-top tours, all participants will meet their guide at Ranch Del Rio. A guide will meet you at the front office of Rancho to then go get you outfitted for your kayak tour. Shuttle service may be a collaborative effort due to the number of participants and vehicles available on the day of the trip. Alpine Kayak will lead shuttle logistics on the day of the trip. A participant’s vehicle may be needed to help with the shuttle, but this is only if needed and will be communicated before the trip.
